How to Apply to Evans

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are limiting the number of visitors to our campus. If a family has applied for the current school year and there is space available in the given grade, an after-hours tour will be arranged. If a family is interested in next school year, we will begin with a Zoom call for our initial meeting. Either way, please begin by filling out an inquiry. Applications for the 2021-2022 school year are available as of October 1st, 2020.

Evans Application Process

    • Shortly after submitting the application, a checklist will be assigned on the Evans Portal, however scheduling and progress of the application will be communicated via direct contact with the admissions director.

  4. Student Evaluation
    • The applying student will meet with the incoming teacher or admissions director to complete grade appropriate assessments. Children do not need to prepare for the assessment. Teachers are looking to visit with the child, and to get an idea of their previous education. It is a nice opportunity for the child to feel more comforatble with Evans as well.
    • *Please note: if your child is applying to Junior Kindergarten or Kindergarten, and is also applying to La Jolla Country Day School or Francis Parker School, they are only required to take the Gesell Early Screener (GES) at one of the schools. Please notify the Evans Admissions office, so that we can ensure your child does not repeat the test. Evans, LJCDS, and Francis Parker School have a partnership and will share screening results with each other.

Evans is a member of the San Diego Consortium of Independent and Private Schools, and thus follows an agreed-upon schedule of admissions dates. For the 2021-2022 school year, priority applications were due on February 1st, 2021. Decisions were shared on March 12th, and acceptances are due on March 24th. Applications for the 2022-2023 school year will open on October 1st, 2021.

Financial Aid Information

The Evans School offers need-based financial aid to qualified candidates. The Scholarship Foundation Board reviews applications and awards funds each school year, striving to make Evans afforable for all families.

The Evans School utilizes School and Student Services (SSS) to assist in processing financial aid applications. SSS is a service of the National Association of Independent Schools.
